You don’t have to rush

You don’t have to rush

By midweek, it can feel like everything is leaning forward.
The calendar, the errands, the unanswered messages—like you’re supposed to be “caught up” by now.

If you’re feeling that quiet pressure in your chest today, it makes sense.
Wednesday has a way of turning the volume up.

Here’s a small permission slip you can keep in your pocket: you don’t have to do today at the speed the world suggests.

Just for today, choose one ordinary thing and do it slower than usual.
Not as a productivity trick. Not to “reset your mindset.” Just as a way of saying to your nervous system: I’m not being chased.

Maybe it’s making tea and letting the kettle finish without multitasking.
Maybe it’s washing your face like you’re someone worth taking care of.
Maybe it’s driving without trying to shave off two minutes, or folding one towel without rushing to the next task.

When you do one thing slowly, you’re not falling behind.
You’re stepping back into your own life.

And if the rest of the day still moves fast—because some days do—that’s okay too.
This isn’t about fixing your week. It’s just about giving your body one small moment of “I’m allowed.”

Today’s Small Intention: Today, I will move at my own pace.

Tiny Practice: Pick one everyday action (pouring water, putting on socks, opening a door). Do it at half-speed while you breathe out a little longer than you breathe in.

With you this morning,

— Gentle Mornings
